The Winter Solstice on Dec. 21, the shortest day of the year, marked a transition from the waning sunlight in the days prior to longer daylight hours in the days ahead. On Dec. 25 came the birth of Jesus, the light of the world. And now we begin the New Year.
To celebrate these events of both our religion and our calendar, to remind ourselves of the light and rebirth going on all around us, the Saint Paul the Apostle Youth Group organized a bonfire on Church grounds.
Many parishioners and visitors came to enjoy the festivities. Thank you, young people!
The next meeting of the Youth Group is set for 6 p.m. next Sunday, Jan. 10, in the Parish Hall to plan and serve. All high-school-aged teens are invited to take part.
