Knights of Columbus’ Tootsie Roll Drive

Members of the Knights of Columbus from our parish will be accepting donations and handing out Tootsie Rolls after all the Masses next weekend, March 4 and 5, for their national Citizens with Disabilities Campaign.

It benefits locals with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to parishioners John DiPompeo and Ernesto Gonzalez for organizing the effort.

According to FloridaKofC.org, “the Citizens with Disabilities Campaign aims to collect donation to help those individuals with intellectual disabilities amongst us. Conducted between the beginning of February and the last week of April, the donations collected during the Citizens with Disabilities Campaign…”

Ash Wednesday

Remember, you are dust, and unto dust you shall return.

Lent starts on Wednesday, with a curious symbol that seems rather morbid. Ashes: the sign of our mortality. Is this any way to begin, with an invitation to consider death?

On your deathbed, it won’t be the things you’ve done in life you’ll regret, but the things you didn’t do. You need to value every second as if it were your last, because it very well might be.

Life isn’t about how much money we make or how many people like our Facebook updates. It’s about living in the allotted moments we have.

Never take your relationships for granted. Tell people now, when their eyes are still open, “I love you!” “I forgive you.” Don’t put it off, because eventually, tomorrows will run out.

Masses will be celebrated, and Ashes distributed, on Wednesday, March 1, at 7:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
